Job description

Surgical Physician Assistant

Lexington, KY $122,025 - $153,430 a year

Precision in Practice, Partnership in Care — Become a Surgical Physician Assistant in the Enchanting Heart of Kentucky

Every surgical suite has its own unique tempo — a harmonious blend of accuracy, trust, and clear communication. As a Physician Assistant specializing in surgery, you understand the vital role you play: not only in the operating room but also alongside patients, during their healing journey, and in the quiet moments where true recovery begins.

We are seeking a committed and meticulous PA to enhance our surgical services in a full-time capacity. In this role, you'll partner closely with distinguished surgeons and caring nursing professionals, ensuring every patient's surgical journey is smooth, supportive, and entirely focused on their health and healing. Whether you're guiding patients through the nuances of pre-operative education or deftly handling instruments during procedures, you'll create meaningful impacts each day — in an environment that truly values your skills and dedication.

Job Responsibilities

Perform thorough patient evaluations, including physical examinations and comprehensive reviews of medical histories.

Assist in diagnosing surgical conditions through analysis of imaging and laboratory results.

Work hand-in-hand with surgeons in developing and implementing individualized surgical treatment strategies.

Provide critical intraoperative support, including prepping the surgical environment, ensuring optimal patient positioning, and managing instrument transfers.

Deliver outstanding pre- and post-operative care, covering medication administration, wound management, discharge processes, and patient education.

Qualifications

Master's degree obtained from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Prior clinical rotations with a focus on surgical practice are highly desirable.

Certifications

Active and unrestricted PA-C certification.

BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.

State licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant.

Skill Set

Strong comprehension of surgical protocols and sterile techniques.

Proven ability to interpret complex diagnostic tests and contribute valuable insights to critical clinical decisions.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Capable of thriving in challenging, high-stakes situations, especially during surgical procedures.

Exhibits a compassionate bedside manner and an unwavering respect for patient dignity and autonomy.

Benefits

Competitive salary along with performance-based incentives.

Comprehensive health benefits package (medical, dental, vision).

Generous paid time off and reimbursement for continuing medical education.

Supportive team environment with access to top-notch resources and equipment.

Opportunities for career growth in an evolving healthcare landscape.

Your Journey in Surgical Care

Embodying the role of a Surgical Physician Assistant goes beyond mere technical abilities — it's about maintaining clear-headed focus in unexpected scenarios and offering support where fears may overshadow hope. You will be hands-on in the operating room while also serving as a constant source of reassurance in the corridors, discussing diagnoses, guiding families through, and helping patients step confidently into their recovery journey.

Your collaborative efforts will range from streamlined laparoscopic procedures to intricate inpatient surgeries, while your contributions will resonate long after the surgical interventions — during follow-ups, recovery dialogues, and future health planning. Your insights are invaluable. Your clinical judgment commands respect. Your voice carries weight in even the tiniest decisions.

This is a team that values your input and recognizes that every successful surgery arises from a collective effort — grounded in trust, humility, and unwavering care.
