At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $140,000 to $177,000 annually, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
nYour final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.
nPosition Overview
nMerrimack Health is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our surgical team full-time. This position is full-time (40hrs/ week). This role consists of general surgery and orthopedic surgery in a busy community-based hospital. The Physician Assistant will practice at Merrimack Health Lawrence and Methuen Hospitals. This is an excellent opportunity for a Physician Assistant who values teamwork, community impact and high-quality patient care.
nResponsibilities
nnnFirst assist during surgical procedures, inclusive of general and orthopedic surgery.
n
nnOrder and interpret diagnostic testing.
n
nnPerform surgical tasks such as suturing, wound closure hemostasis and retraction.
n
nnManage postoperative recovery and complications.
n
nnConduct rounds and monitor patient progress.
n
nnWorks closely within a multispecialty health system, collaborating with primary care, orthopedics, cardiology, urology, and other clinical services.
n
nnEstablishes a process for collaborating with the surgeon, particularly for acute patient issues.
n
nnParticipate in discharge planning and follow-up.
n
nnDocument all patient's care in Meditech Expanse, the system-wide electronic medical record.
n
nnContribute to quality initiatives, performance improvement, and the system’s mission of equity-focused, community-centered care.
n
nnOther duties as assigned.

n nQualifications
nnnGraduate of an accredited physician assistant program with certification.
n
nnCurrent BLS and ACLS certification.
n
nnEligible for medical licensure in the state of Massachusetts.
n
nnDemonstrated commitment to community-based, equitable, culturally competent care.
n
nnSurgical experience in general surgery and/or orthopedics highly preferred.

nnMerrimack Health Lawrence and Methuen Hospitals: 40/hrs/ week
