Surgical Physician Assistant - PA-C

Boston, MA $122,321 - $153,736 a year

Precision in Practice, Purpose in Partnership — Become a Surgical Physician Assistant in Vibrant Boston, Massachusetts

Every operating room resonates with its own unique rhythm — a combination of precision, trust, and seamless communication. As a Physician Assistant with a focus on surgical care, you understand the indispensable role you play: not only in the OR but also at the bedside, throughout patient follow-ups, and in the background where genuine healing begins.

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous PA to join our surgical services team in a full-time capacity. In this role, you will work side-by-side with skilled surgeons and compassionate nursing professionals, ensuring each patient's surgical journey is both smooth and centered on their overall health and well-being. Whether you're educating a patient before surgery or confidently passing instruments during procedures, your contribution will be felt daily in a place that highly values your skills and dedication.

Key Responsibilities

Perform thorough patient evaluations, including physical examinations and detailed health history assessments

Assist in assessing and diagnosing surgical conditions by interpreting imaging studies and laboratory results

Work closely with surgeons to develop and implement tailored surgical treatment plans for patients

Provide intraoperative assistance, including preparing surgical spaces, ensuring appropriate patient positioning, and passing instruments during surgical procedures

Deliver outstanding pre-and post-operative care, which includes medication management, wound care, discharge planning, and patient education

Education Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

Completion of clinical rotations with emphasis on surgery is strongly preferred

Certifications Required

Valid and unrestricted PA-C certification

BLS and ACLS certifications required

State licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant

Preferred Skills

Solid understanding of surgical principles and sterile procedure techniques

Demonstrated ability to interpret complex diagnostic tests and engage in intricate clinical decision-making

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Capability to thrive under pressure, especially during critical surgical scenarios

Empathetic bedside manner paired with deep respect for patient dignity and autonomy

Benefits Offered

Competitive salary with performance-related bonuses

Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision

Generous paid time off alongside CME reimbursement

Supportive work culture with access to cutting-edge equipment and resources

Opportunities for career advancement within a progressive healthcare environment

Your Role in the Surgical Process

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, your role transcends mere technical competence — it involves maintaining calm focus when unexpected situations arise and providing comfort when a patient's anxieties mount. You'll actively participate in the OR while also being a reassuring presence in conversations, clarifying diagnoses, guiding families, and assisting patients in navigating their recovery journeys.

You'll engage with a variety of surgical procedures, from minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries to more intricate inpatient interventions. Post-operatively, your involvement will remain significant during wound evaluations, recovery discussions, and long-term planning. Your insights will be valued, your expertise sought, and your voice respected in both critical and routine decision-making.

This is a collaborative team that recognizes your contributions and recognizes that every successful surgical outcome stems from a collective commitment to patient care, built on a foundation of trust, humility, and unwavering support.
