Precision in Practice, Partnership in Care — Embrace the Role of Surgical Physician Assistant in Beautiful Pittsburgh

Operating rooms pulse with a unique rhythm — a blend of precision, trust, and seamless communication. As a Physician Assistant with a focus on surgical care, your role is indispensable: present not only in the OR but also at the bedside, during follow-ups, and within the intricate support systems that pave the way for healing.

We seek a committed and detail-oriented PA to bolster surgical services in a full-time capacity. Here, you will collaborate closely with expert surgeons and caring nurses, ensuring that every patient's surgical experience is smooth, supported, and entirely centered on their well-being. From guiding patients through pre-op preparations to confidently passing instruments during live procedures, your day-to-day contributions will have a lasting impact — in an environment that genuinely appreciates your skill and dedication.

Job Responsibilities

Perform thorough patient assessments, encompassing physical examinations and comprehensive medical history reviews

Assist in diagnosing surgical conditions by interpreting imaging studies and lab results

Work collaboratively with surgeons to formulate and implement patient-specific surgical treatment plans

Provide intraoperative support, including preparing operating rooms and ensuring proper patient positioning while handing off instruments during procedures

Deliver exceptional pre- and post-operative care, from medication administration to wound care, discharge planning, and educating patients

Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

Clinical rotations with a strong surgical emphasis are highly preferred

Certifications

Current and unrestricted PA-C certification

BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory

State licensure (or eligibility) to practice as a Physician Assistant

Skills

Extensive knowledge of surgical principles and practices, including sterile technique

Proven ability to interpret diagnostic tests and engage in complex clinical decision-making

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Aptitude for thriving in high-stakes environments, especially during surgical scenarios

Empathetic bedside manner with profound respect for the dignity and autonomy of patients

Benefits

Attractive salary with performance-based incentives

Comprehensive health benefits package (medical, dental, vision)

Generous paid leave and CME reimbursement

Supportive team culture with access to cutting-edge equipment and resources

Career growth opportunities in a vibrant and expanding healthcare environment

Your Influence on the Surgical Experience

Being a Surgical Physician Assistant transcends technical ability — it's about arriving with poise when unexpected challenges arise and providing comfort when patients feel most vulnerable. You will play an essential role in the OR, while also acting as a reassuring voice in the hallways, clarifying diagnoses, guiding loved ones, and empowering patients to move forward.

Your expertise will range from minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures to intricate inpatient surgeries, while your impact also resonates post-operatively — from post-op visits to recovery dialogues and long-term care planning. Your involvement is crucial. Your clinical perspective carries weight. Your opinions are valued in decisions large and small.

We are a team that champions your insights, recognizing that each successful surgery is a collaborative effort grounded in trust, humility, and unwavering care.

Upon leaving the medical center, you enter a city that doesn't simply provide an existence but celebrates the vibrancy of life itself. Welcome to Pittsburgh, where rivers meander through historic neighborhoods, and innovation thrives amidst artistic endeavors and culinary experiences that ignite the senses.

Embrace weekends filled with exploration, whether it's kayaking along the shimmering waters of the rivers or hiking through the scenic trails that wind around the city's lush parks. Visit local breweries where the ambience matches the beautifully crafted beers, savoring the dedication put into each pint just as you do with your patients. In this welcoming community, friendly faces greet you with sincerity, eager to connect and share in life's joyful moments.

With no state income tax and a robust job market, your compensation goes further, allowing you to truly enjoy your leisure time. Pittsburgh is more than just a workplace; it's a canvas for building a fulfilling life that feels just right.

Whether you're drawn to the dynamic pace of downtown high-rises or the tranquility of a cozy home nestled under a leafy canopy, there's space here for you. The arts scene? Vibrant. The cuisine? A delightful fusion of flavor traditions. And the people? A diverse tapestry of dreamers, makers, and everyone in between.

Who We Seek

We are in search of a Physician Assistant who embraces challenges without flinching — someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-acuity settings and finds fulfillment in diligent preparation. Someone who listens before acting, supports before directing, and continuously grows alongside patients and colleagues.

You may be at the beginning of your surgical journey or have a wealth of intraoperative experience — no matter what, we prioritize character over credentials. If you possess a sharp intellect, steady hands, and a heartfelt commitment to healing, you will find a welcoming home here.

Join Us Where Your Skills Create Meaning

This opportunity is more than just a position. It's a passionate mission — to assist individuals in reclaiming their vigor, restoring their mobility, and returning to their lives in even better conditions than before.

Be a part of a team where every role is cherished, every success is celebrated, and every patient is regarded as a person beyond their medical history. If you're eager to contribute your surgical expertise to a community that values both clinical proficiency and deep human connections, we are excited to meet you.
