Job Responsibilities
Conduct thorough patient assessments, encompassing detailed physical examinations and reviews of past medical histories
Assist in evaluating and diagnosing surgical concerns through analysis of imaging data and laboratory results
Work closely with surgeons to develop and implement tailored surgical treatment plans for each patient
Provide crucial support during surgeries, which includes prepping operating rooms, ensuring proper patient positioning, and passing surgical instruments on cue
Offer exceptional pre- and post-operative care, encompassing medication management, wound treatment, discharge strategies, and patient education
Education Requirements
Master's degree earned from an accredited Physician Assistant program
Clinical rotations with an emphasis on surgical practice highly preferred
Certifications Required
Current and unrestricted PA-C certification
BLS and ACLS certifications mandatory
State licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant
Essential Skills
Expert understanding of surgical principles and sterile techniques
Demonstrated capability to interpret diagnostic exams and contribute to advanced clinical decisions
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
Proven endurance in high-pressure environments, particularly during surgical operations
