Job description

Responsibilities: In this role the Surgical Technologist responsibilities are to assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room and provide patient care in the clinical setting. The Surgical Tech II is also responsible for the care, handling and maintenance of basic surgical equipment and instrumentation.
Schedule
FTE: 0.90 (3-12's)
Hours: 6:45am-5:15pm
Days: Friday-Sunday
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Qualifications: Required Education
Required: GED or High School Diploma AND Graduate of surgical technologist program
Licensure/Certification
Required:
Certification from NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting), AST Association of Surgical Technologists) or NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) within 1 year of date of hire/transfer.
BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Experience
Required: Less than 1 year of surgical technologist experience
Necessary Skills
Strong working knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span; Strong working knowledge of anatomic structure and human body system; Strong working knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes.
In depth knowledge of medical terminology.
Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including but not limited to presentation skills and report writing.
Must have expert knowledge, use and demonstration of standard precautions; Expert knowledge, use and experience with aseptic and sterile technique. Must have experience training and precepting staff in Cardio-Thoracic surgery
Must have organization and time management skills including but not limited to organizing, planning and prioritizing work.
