Job description
The Surgical Technologist provides clinical support in a Digestive Health Center, assisting with patient care, specimen collection, instrument handling, and room setup and cleanup between procedures. They reprocess endoscopes and accessories, manage technical equipment, and ensure a sterile environment.
Qualified candidates should have an Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology Certification , with certification as an Endoscope Reprocessor within 18 months and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.
Key skills include excellent communication, hand-eye coordination, infection control knowledge, and the ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures. They must demonstrate problem-solving abilities, understanding of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, and familiarity with electrical, chemical, and technological tools used in surgery.
Primary responsibilities involve
assisting with procedural setup and instrument handling,
maintaining sterile technique and environment,
performing instrument sterilization,
documenting patient data accurately,
supporting supply inventory,
and
helping with patient specimen collection.
