Job description
The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the perioperative team, assisting during intraoperative procedures under RN supervision to ensure patient safety and effective care.
Responsibilities include applying aseptic principles, maintaining a sterile environment, and demonstrating technical, judgmental, and knowledge skills. They assist with organizing supplies, equipment, and patient positioning, perform sterilization and disinfection of surgical instruments, and ensure equipment maintenance and repair.
Qualifications encompass a Surgical Technology certificate or associate's degree, BLS certification, and experience as a surgical technologist.
Key skills involve adherence to safety and legal standards, efficient room turnover, and supporting education through scrubbing duties for learners.
