Work Shift: Day (United States of America)
Salary Range:
$49,763.00 - $69,668.00
Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who form an integral part of the team of practitioners providing surgical care to patients. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon to facilitate surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that patient safety is maintained. The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, understands the procedure and anticipates the surgeon’s needs, and remains vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain sterile field
Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed
Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening, maintain sterility while scrubbed, and maintain sterility of instruments and supplies
Perform accurate instrument, sponge and needle counts following established policies and procedures
Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. – required
1‑3 years of scrubbing experience – preferred
Familiarity with all specialty services – preferred
CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) – required upon hire
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) with State Licensure – required upon hire
