We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Vice President of Information Technology to lead the technology function of a growing, employee-owned engineering consulting firm.

This is a highly visible executive leadership position with responsibility for ensuring that technology is a strategic enabler of the firm's business. The SVP of IT will lead the strategy, people, systems, and infrastructure that allow our professionals to collaborate, serve clients, and deliver complex engineering projects across our offices.

The successful candidate will bring strong enterprise IT leadership experience, a business-oriented mindset, and the ability to balance strategic transformation with operational excellence. This leader will oversee IT operations, cybersecurity, infrastructure, end-user support, enterprise business systems, data governance, and software engineering while partnering closely with executive and operational leaders across the firm.

Set the Technology Strategy

Develop and execute a multi-year technology strategy and roadmap aligned with the firm's business objectives, growth plans, and operational needs.

Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology investments, opportunities, risks, and priorities.

Establish technology standards, governance, policies, and practices that support a secure, scalable, and high-performing environment.

Lead IT Operations & Infrastructure

Provide executive oversight of IT infrastructure, networks, cloud and on-premises environments, end-user technology, and technology support services.

Ensure high levels of system availability, reliability, performance, and business continuity, including disaster recovery.

Lead the technology environment supporting collaboration, project delivery, data processing, and workshare across multiple offices.

Protect the Firm

Own the firm's cybersecurity strategy, risk management, policies, compliance, and ongoing improvement of its security posture.

Establish effective practices for identity and access management, data protection, vulnerability management, incident response, and regulatory and contractual compliance.

Ensure technology risks are identified, prioritized, and appropriately addressed.

Enable Business Systems & Software

Provide strategic leadership for core enterprise business systems and applications, including ERP and other systems critical to the firm's operations.

Oversee software engineering and application development capabilities that support business needs.

Partner with business leaders to ensure technology investments improve productivity, service delivery, and the employee experience.

Establish effective processes for evaluating, implementing, integrating, and optimizing enterprise technology.

Lead Data & Emerging Technology

Establish enterprise data governance practices that promote data integrity, security, accessibility, and value.

Partner with Technology & Innovation leadership on digital transformation, automation, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

Monitor AEC and technology trends and identify opportunities to strengthen the firm's technology capabilities and competitive position.

Manage the Business of IT

Develop and manage the annual IT budget and ensure effective allocation of technology resources.

Lead strategic vendor relationships, contract negotiations, licensing, and technology procurement.

Evaluate investments based on business value, total cost of ownership, risk, scalability, and long-term sustainability.

Build a High-Performing Team

Lead and develop a high-performing technology organization through directors and managers.

Establish clear accountability, priorities, performance expectations, and professional development opportunities.

Foster a culture of service, collaboration, continuous improvement, security, and accountability.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a technology executive who combines deep technical understanding with strong business acumen and executive presence.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Significant progressive experience leading enterprise information technology functions, including IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and business systems.

A demonstrated record of developing and executing technology strategies that produce measurable business outcomes.

Experience leading large, multidisciplinary technology organizations through subordinate leaders.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity, risk management, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, networking, enterprise applications, data management, and technology governance.

Experience overseeing software engineering or application development functions.

Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting, total cost of ownership, vendor management, licensing, and technology investment decisions.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate complex technology issues into clear business implications and recommendations.

Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, transformation, and adoption of new technologies.

Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

The ability to influence and collaborate effectively across an organization, including where formal authority does not exist.

Experience in an engineering, architecture, construction, or other professional-services environment is highly desirable.

A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, ITIL, PMP, or similar credentials are desirable.

Why This Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a successful, established firm at an important point in its technology evolution.

You will have the opportunity to:

Shape the firm's technology strategy and influence how technology supports future growth.

Lead a broad and meaningful technology portfolio, from cybersecurity and infrastructure to enterprise systems and software engineering.

Work directly with executive leadership and business leaders across the firm.

Build and develop a high-performing IT organization.

Influence investments in emerging technologies, including AI and automation.

Make a visible impact on the way our professionals collaborate and deliver work for clients.

Join an employee-owned organization where long-term success is shared by our people.

You understand that reliable infrastructure and strong cybersecurity are foundational, but you also know that the ultimate purpose of technology is to help people work better, make better decisions, serve clients more effectively, and help the business grow.
