Reporting to the Chief Actuary, this executive will shape the division's financial strategy, drive enterprise growth, and modernize actuarial capabilities to support Symetra's long-term vision.

WhatYou willDo
Strategic & Financial Leadership
Partner with division, actuarial, and enterprise leaders to develop and execute the Individual Life Division's financial and strategic plans.
Provide financialinsightand recommendations that drive profitable growth, capital efficiency, and long-term value creation.
Lead forecasting, budgeting, financial planning, and performance analysis activities.
Influencedecisions related to reinsurance, investments, capital management, and risk management.
Financial Reporting & Governance
Oversee actuarial valuation and financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting requirements.
Provide executive and Board-level reporting and insightsintofinancial performance and key business drivers.
Ensureaccurateandtimelyreporting of valuation, profitability, andmanagementreporting metrics.
Product & Business Leadership
Oversee Individual Life product pricing and pricing governance.
Partner across the organization to develop innovative solutions that balance customer value, profitability, and growthobjectives.
Evaluate emerging opportunities and risks that mayimpactbusiness performance.
Organizational Leadership
Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing actuarial organization.
Build leadership bench strength and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Drive modernization of actuarial processes, tools, and capabilities to improve efficiency, scalability, and business impact.
Innovation & Industry Leadership
Championthe use of advanced analytics, AI-enabled processes, and modern actuarial technologies.
Serve as a trusted thought leader within Symetra and the broader insurance industry.

Compensation
SalaryRange: $260,000 - $340,000plus eligibility for annual bonus programand long-term incentive plan
Who You Are
10+ years of life insurance actuarial experience, including significant leadership responsibilityrequired(experience leading teams of 10+ professionals).
A credentialed actuary (FSArequired)with deepexpertisein life insurance products, valuation, pricing, andfinancial managementrequired.
A strategic executive who balances technical excellence with business acumen and commercial decision-making.
An experienced people leader witha track recordof leading and developing large, high-performing teams.
A transformational leader who embraces innovation, challenges the status quo, and drives meaningful change.
A trusted advisor who can influence senior executives, Boards, regulators, and external partners through clear, compelling communication.
A relationship builder who thrives in highly collaborative environments and aligns diverse stakeholders around shared goals.
Adept at simplifying complex concepts and translating data-driven insights into business action.
Familiar with modern actuarial platforms, data and analytics capabilities, and emerging technologies shaping the future of insurance.
Knowledge of Bermuda regulatory frameworks is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree inMathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related fieldrequired.
Willingness to travelapproximately 10-15%.

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reportsare required tocomplete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra’s corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington.Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
