Switchboard OperatorNow hiring for a Switchboard Operator Location: Opelousas, LA Pay: $14.00 – $16.00 per hour Shift: Monday & Wednesday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Tuesday & Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Friday: Rotating Hours Got People Skills? We are seeking a professional and dependable Switchboard Operator to join a busy office in Opelousas. This position is responsible for managing a high-volume multi-line phone system, directing calls to the appropriate departments, and providing excellent customer service to callers. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a professional phone presence, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Additional customer service, business, or office training is beneficial. Experience Requirements Previous switchboard, receptionist, customer service, or administrative experience preferred Experience managing multiple phone lines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and customer service skills Professional phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities Strong multitasking and organizational skills Job Duties Answer and manage up to 8 busy phone lines Transfer calls to appropriate departments and extensions Provide accurate information and assistance to callers Maintain a professional and courteous telephone presence Relay messages accurately and promptly Assist with general administrative and office support tasks Handle incoming calls efficiently in a high-volume environment Physical Capabilities Ability to sit for extended periods while answering calls Ability to use a computer, telephone, and office equipment Ability to communicate clearly and professionally throughout the workday Ability to multitask in a busy office setting Preferred Qualifications Previous customer service, call center, retail, office support, or administrative experience is preferred. Experience working with CRM software, order processing systems, or customer databases is beneficial. Bilingual communication skills may be considered an asset depending on the position. Individuals who demonstrate patience, professionalism, adaptability, and excellent communication skills are well positioned for success as a Switchboard Operator.
