Job Title: Systems Administrator 3
Location: Fully onsite in Trenton, NJ,
Compensation: $44/hour.
Employment Type: Temporary, Full-time (ASAP through June 2028)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Our client is seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer / z/OS Systems Administrator to manage and maintain mainframe infrastructure, including the z/OS operating system, subsystems, security interfaces, and related software products. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in mainframe administration, troubleshooting, security, performance optimization, and disaster recovery planning.
Responsibilities:
Manage the installation and maintenance of the mainframe z/OS system, subsystems, and products, interfacing the security between ACF2, VTAM, TPX, CICS, TCP/IP, and LDAP, including software exits and scripts.
Troubleshoot and resolve mainframe system issues, including operating system, subsystem, performance, and connectivity problems.
Research Hyper-Critical system PTFs and, if applicable to the environment, apply, test, and implement them.
Determine the effectiveness of programs, policies, methods, procedures, and forms and recommend improved courses of action for maximum utilization.
Perform software system evaluations, hardware capacity analysis, and hardware/software projections to ensure adequate machine resources for projected workloads.
Document, maintain, and implement mainframe security and operating system/program products for disaster recovery and participate in exercises.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, operating procedures, troubleshooting steps, and recovery processes, to support operational continuity.
Provide technical support for mainframe assessments, upgrades, migrations, and transition or decommissioning activities, as needed.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree that must include or be supplemented by a minimum of 18 semester credit hours in mathematics, computer science, information technology, and/or computer information systems.
Experience supporting and maintaining mainframe operating systems, subsystems, and related software products.
Knowledge of mainframe security, system administration, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery procedures.
Ability to assess system performance, capacity requirements, and software updates.
Experience with mainframe disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation is preferred.
