We are seeking an experienced Trust & Estates Tax Professional to join our tax practice in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in trust, estate, and individual tax preparation and compliance, along with the ability to work directly with clients and manage complex tax engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal and state trust and estate tax returns.
Prepare and review individual income tax returns for high-net-worth clients.
Handle estate, trust, fiduciary, and related tax matters.
Research complex federal and state tax issues.
Analyze tax documents, financial records, and supporting schedules.
Assist with estate and trust tax planning and compliance.
Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve tax-related questions.
Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, executors, trustees, and other professionals as needed.
Identify tax issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
Ensure tax returns and filings are accurate and completed within required deadlines.
Maintain organized client files and supporting documentation.
Stay current with changes in federal and state tax laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
Several years of professional experience in tax accounting, with specific experience in trusts and estates.
Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
Experience preparing Form 1041 – U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts .
Experience with Form 706 – U.S. Estate Tax Return and/or Form 709—U.S. Gift Tax Return is preferred.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA-track candidate.
Experience in public accounting or a tax firm.
Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, estates, and trusts.
Knowledge of estate and gift tax planning.
Experience with tax preparation software and accounting systems. xqrzhdi
