About the Role: As a seasonal Tax Associate at H&R Block, you’ll begin a career in tax and client services—no prior tax experience required. With training and support from day one, you’ll work directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building valuable skills and strong client relationships. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate, with opportunities to increase your earnings as you build tax knowledge and grow in the role. This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office .
Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
Required Qualifications: Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course1
Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to un derstand needs
Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
High school diploma / GED/ equivalent
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs
Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season

Pay Range Information: The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
