Job description
Tax Manager | Arlington, TX | $125,000 to $150,000 | Hybrid
Plenty of firms will tell you they value long tenure. Fewer actually have the retention numbers to back it up. This one does.
We're working with an independent CPA firm in Arlington, TX, around 15 to 25 staff, with strong client relationships and a genuine track record of keeping both clients and employees long term. That's not a small thing. It usually points to a business that's well run, a team that actually works well together, and clients who value what they're getting.
They're now looking to add an experienced Tax Manager, someone with at least five years of public accounting tax experience who's comfortable owning client relationships, reviewing complex work, developing junior staff, and being a steady senior presence in the firm.
Why this one's different
You’ll have real, visible impact here instead of disappearing into a big corporate structure. The firm also takes a sensible approach to workload. Busy season is still busy, but hours generally stay around 50 to 55 per week at peak, not the kind of schedule that wears you down year after year. Hybrid flexibility is part of the setup too, giving you more control over your week while staying closely connected to the team.
What they’re looking for
At least 5 years of tax experience at a CPA or public accounting firm
Comfortable reviewing returns, managing deadlines, communicating directly with clients, and developing junior staff
CPA or EA ideally required
Experience with CCH Axcess, Lacerte, or UltraTax is useful, though the firm is open to other software backgrounds
Why it’s worth considering
At Manager level, a move should offer more than a bigger paycheck. This is a chance to join a smaller independent firm where you’ll have real influence, build long term client relationships, and work alongside a stable team with genuinely strong retention.
This role includes:
$125,000 to $150,000
Busy season generally capped around 50 to 55 hours a week
A team of around 15 to 25 people
Strong staff and client retention
Real client ownership
The chance to mentor and support junior staff
A smaller firm environment where your work actually gets noticed
If you like public accounting and want to keep progressing, but would rather do it somewhere with strong retention, manageable hours, and a more personal feel, this is worth a conversation.
