A lot of CPA firms talk about being family oriented, offering flexibility and caring about their people. But what happens when someone actually needs that support? When life gets complicated, the kids need picking up, or someone needs more than a couple of days away from work?
That's when you find out what a firm's culture is really like.
Last year, one employee needed 3 months away from work due to illness. The firm paid them in full throughout. Another team member went through an incredibly difficult family situation and was given several months of fully paid leave to focus on what mattered.
No complicated conversations about unpaid leave, just good people looking after good people.

This is a privately owned, 100 person CPA firm in Miami that has built its reputation on doing things a little differently. The Partners know their teams, families are genuinely welcomed into the culture, and nobody's going to question you for leaving to pick your children up from school.
If your work is getting done, and done well, they're not interested in watching the clock.
There's no Private Equity involvement, and the firm has no intention of changing that. The Partners want to protect what they've built, including the culture that makes people want to stay.
They also take the entire firm and their partners on a fully paid cruise to the Bahamas every year. Not a bad way to get to know your colleagues.
So, what does life actually look like here?
For starters, busy season doesn't have to mean waving goodbye to your personal life for four months. Hours typically range from 45 to 55 per week, with 55 being the maximum rather than something you're expected to hit from January onwards.
There's a hybrid schedule with 2-3 days in the office, flexibility around family commitments and an understanding that you have a life outside of work. If you need to adjust your hours for a school run or something personal, you can.
Time off is taken seriously, too. The firm closes completely between Christmas and New Year, with additional days off around April 15th, July 4th and Thanksgiving.

The opportunity itself
As Tax Manager, you'll work with a broad mix of clients, taking ownership of engagements, reviewing returns and building relationships directly with clients.
It's a generalist tax position, so you'll have the opportunity to work across different areas rather than spending your entire career specialising in one narrow part of tax.
You'll be joining an established team of experienced professionals, with opportunities to continue developing your career and take on more responsibility.
They're looking for someone with Public Accounting experience who enjoys working with clients and wants to be part of a firm for the long term.
A CPA would be welcomed, but it's not a requirement.
Perhaps you've reached the point in your career where you're wondering whether progressing in Public Accounting has to come at the expense of everything else.
