Koffex Accounting is a growing accounting, tax, and business advisory firm serving individuals and businesses throughout the Chicagoland area. We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team and play an important role in both tax preparation and the growth of our firm.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with clients, preparing and reviewing tax returns, and developing new business relationships.
Position: Tax Manager
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Management
Prepare and review individual and business tax returns , including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and related state returns.
Handle complex tax returns and identify tax planning opportunities.
Review work prepared by other staff members for accuracy and completion.
Research federal and state tax issues and stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations.
Communicate directly with clients regarding tax returns, tax planning, and questions.
Assist with tax notices, correspondence, and IRS/state tax matters.
Help train and mentor junior tax staff during tax season.
Business Development & Sales - Off-Season
During the off-season, spend at least two full days per week focused on sales and business development .
Develop relationships with prospective business and individual clients.
Generate new leads through networking, referrals, community involvement, and other business-development activities.
Meet with prospective clients to understand their accounting and tax needs and explain Koffex Accounting's services.
Follow up with leads and maintain an active sales pipeline.
Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
Work closely with management to develop strategies for growing the firm's client base and revenue.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of tax preparation experience .
Strong experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Strong client-service mindset.
Comfortable with sales, networking, and business development.
Ability and willingness to transition from primarily tax work during busy season to a combination of tax planning, client service, and business development during the off-season.
CPA or EA designation is preferred but not required.
