Tax Manager
Locations: New Jersey – Parsippany, Red Bank, and other New Jersey office locations
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3–4 days onsite; candidates should be prepared to work onsite 5 days per week initially for training and onboarding
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing public accounting team in New Jersey. This is a generalist tax role suited for a well-rounded tax professional with strong experience preparing, reviewing, and managing a variety of federal and state tax engagements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in individual, partnership, and S-corporation taxation , along with the ability to manage client relationships, review complex returns, and oversee engagements from planning through completion.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, and other closely held businesses.
Manage multiple tax engagements and ensure timely completion in accordance with firm standards and client deadlines.
Review tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
Research complex tax issues and provide practical recommendations to clients and engagement teams.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and develop strong, long-term relationships.
Assist with tax planning, projections, and other advisory opportunities.
Identify potential tax-saving opportunities and communicate recommendations effectively.
Supervise, mentor, and review the work of Tax Seniors and Staff.
Assist Partners and Directors with client development and special tax projects.
Stay current on changes in federal, state, and local tax legislation and regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience , with management-level experience preferred.
Strong experience with 1040s, partnerships, and S-corporations .
Broad generalist tax experience; specific industry specialization is not required.
Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation.
CPA license preferred or significant progress toward obtaining the CPA.
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and client-service skills.
Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with common tax preparation and accounting software.
