Job description
Tax Manager or Senior Manager – Exempt Organizations
Apply to join Plante Moran as a Tax Manager or Senior Manager focusing on exempt organizations. The role offers growth, well‑being and professional development in a supportive culture.
Key Responsibilities
Review partnership, corporate, and individual tax returns, including federal, foreign, state and local returns, estimated payments and extensions.
Assist with federal and state tax audits, providing technical solutions and documentation.
Leverage expertise in exempt organizations to determine appropriate tax objectives, scope, methodology and identify solutions and opportunities such as credits or items from tax law changes.
Use technology (e.g., CCH Axcess) to maximize technical application and hold the engagement team to the same standard.
Serve as primary engagement manager—responsible for billing, realization and collections.
Participate in internal and external networking events and contribute to business expansion through proposal development and sales calls.
Supervise and develop a team of 1‑2 associates on each engagement, focusing on technical tax knowledge and client engagement management.
Engage in the annual CORE training program and other non‑billable initiatives such as recruiting, internal training, mentoring and thought‑leadership content.
Qualifications
5+ years experience in public accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent).
CPA or Bar License required.
Relocate to or reside in the Wakefield/Boston area; willingness to travel across the region, including overnight stays, is required.
Comfortable with an exempt position in which hours may exceed the typical 40‑hour work week.
