Position Overview
A growing public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager or Senior Tax professional to work closely with business owners and clients across a broad range of tax matters.
This role provides exposure to tax planning, compliance, research, and advisory services , while offering the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, resolve complex tax issues, and mentor less-experienced team members.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax expertise with excellent client service skills and a desire to continue growing professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned tax clients and build strong, long-term relationships.
Advise clients on a broad range of tax matters, including planning, research, compliance, and general business activities.
Manage federal and state tax compliance engagements and coordinate client needs throughout the engagement process.
Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns.
Analyze tax positions and identify opportunities for tax planning and optimization.
Research complex tax issues and communicate recommendations and conclusions clearly to clients and internal teams.
Manage multiple engagements while balancing deadlines, priorities, and client expectations.
Stay current with changes in tax law, regulations, and industry practices.
Mentor and develop staff and senior-level team members.
Help team members understand expectations, strengthen technical skills, and identify opportunities for career growth.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
4+ years of relevant tax experience.
Active CPA, active EA, or currently sitting for CPA examinations — required.
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
Familiarity with FASB and Internal Revenue Code requirements.
Ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and colleagues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax/accounting software.
Strong communication, organization, and client-service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of management, supervisory, or mentoring experience.
Experience managing client relationships and tax engagements.
Experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
Experience providing tax planning and advisory services.
Stable employment history.
