Join our team of seasoned professionals and become a part of the fabric of the New York food scene.Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a member of Citarella's team, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional guest service while maintaining deep knowledge of our premium food offerings. This position requires pride in product presentation, attention to safety and sanitation standards, and a strong sense of teamwork. You will be responsible for merchandising, product rotation, waste monitoring, and engaging with guests to provide an outstanding shopping experience.Provide exceptional guest service to drive sales and ensure satisfaction.Use suggestive selling techniques to promote our products.Receive, unload, and break down deliveries; stock and rotate merchandise.Ensure all items meet Citarella's high-quality standards before display.Maintain and restock displays while ensuring proper rotation and facing of products.Apply basic knife skills to prepare seafood/meat/cheese/produce as needed.Adhere to all Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, and OSHA safety and sanitation standards.Use and manage cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety protocols.Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and management.Maintain a professional, respectful, and guest-facing demeanor at all times.Complete all assigned duties as directed by the management team.As a Front End Member, you'll be handling all customer transactions accurately while providing an exceptional customer service to all guests throughout their store experience. Having a professional, pleasant, and guest-driven attitude is ideal for individuals in this role.Provide exceptional customer service at all times including welcoming guests, assisting and addressing customer needs in a timely mannerMaintain a positive, courteous demeanor at all timesAccurately handle all guest transactions and follow all cash handling proceduresProperly scan and bag all merchandise.Learn and utilize in-store specific codes such as: produce codes, food preparation codes, etc.Count cash drawer at the beginning and end of shift to reduce and prevent shortages.Other reasonably assigned duties as per business needRequirementsExcellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor6 months to 1 year of experience in a specialty department (Fish/Meat/Cheese)Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidaysAbility to work both independently as well as with a teamAbility to read and write the English language, conduct business related mathematics and analyze data as required.Ability to accurately handle monetary transactionsExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsWillingness and ability to learn about our productsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to perform physical requirements of position including standing for extended periods of time, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, able to lift, carry, push and pull weightsAbility to work in a high-volume, fast paced environment
