Job description
The Land Development Team Lead will serve as both a strategic client manager and an internal team leader, responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of land development projects from concept through construction. This individual will lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff, ensuring high-quality work, efficient project execution, and strong client relationships. The Team Lead will also play a key role in business development and operational leadership within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and coordinate land development engineering projects of varying size and complexity
Serve as primary point of contact for clients while maintaining strong relationships and anticipating client needs
Supervise and mentor project managers, engineers, EITs, and designers
Develop and oversee project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans
Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates
Guide technical design direction and ensure compliance with agency regulations and company standards
Review and approve engineering plans, calculations, and reports; sign and seal as appropriate
Coordinate with agencies, utility districts, contractors, and subconsultants
Support business development efforts and strategic planning initiatives for the land development group
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture focused on accountability and growth
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas
Preferably 12+ years of experience in land development engineering and project management
Minimum 7+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
Strong client management and communication skills
Strong understanding of local development regulations and agency requirements
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and technical writing ability
Software
ArcGIS – Preferred
H&H modeling software (HEC-RAS, XPSWMM, StormCAD) – Preferred
