Job Summary:
Performs specimen collection, primarily through venipuncture and finger sticks, to support laboratory testing for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Plays a key role in ensuring accurate specimen processing, documentation, and communication with medical staff.
Responsibilities:
Obtain blood specimens using appropriate venipuncture and capillary techniques.
Verify specimen identification and ensure sample suitability for testing.
Process and prepare specimens following aseptic techniques and recordkeeping protocols.
Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff to facilitate smooth laboratory operations.
Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Assist with inventory management by ordering supplies, checking for expiration, and organizing stock.
Qualifications:
High School Education/GED or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT I or CPT II license required in CA; preferred in OR and HI.
At least two years recent experience in phlebotomy or laboratory specimen collection.
Current BLS certification required.
EPIC experience preferred.
