Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for sterilizing, decontaminating, and assembling surgical instruments and equipment in a fast-paced, Level I Trauma Center. This role ensures the integrity of sterilization processes and supports surgical teams across multiple specialties to maintain patient safety and infection control standards.
Responsibilities:
Perform sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping of surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards.
Float within scope to meet facility needs, including coverage at sister facilities and different departments such as CSC, ART, or West Campus.
Document all sterilization activities accurately and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
Support surgical teams during various cases including neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN procedures.
Participate in ongoing training and complete mandatory lab modules prior to starting.
Qualifications:
Possess at least 2 years of sterile processing experience in a Level 1 Trauma or comparable setting.
Certified through CBSPD and/or HSPA is preferred.
Demonstrate proficiency in sterilization, decontamination, and case assembly, especially for neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN cases.
Hold current BLS certification.
Be flexible to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays, with rotating schedules.
Must have or be eligible for South Carolina RN license and comply with local travel and RTO policies.
