Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Supervisor oversees all activities within the sterile processing department, ensuring efficient and compliant sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies. This leadership role involves supervising staff, managing workflow, and maintaining adherence to regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Directly supervise lead technicians, technicians, and non-certified staff across all sterilization work areas.
Assign daily tasks based on workload, case volume, and departmental priorities.
Oversee instrument tracking, documentation accuracy, and inventory control.
Coordinate daily operations to meet surgical and procedural case demands, monitoring tray turnaround times and case cart readiness.
Troubleshoot equipment, workflow, and instrument issues in real time while ensuring compliance with infection prevention practices.
Audit tray assembly, label verification, and ensure service quality through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of sterile processing experience.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience in sterile processing or related departments.
Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems preferred.
Certified by CBSPD and/or CRCST, HSPABLS not required.
Demonstrated knowledge of infection control standards, including AAMI ST79 and AORN guidelines.
Valid South Carolina RN License or proof of application required for eligible candidates.
