Job Summary:
Coordinates the decontamination, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure patient safety and compliance with sterilization standards. Supports surgical and clinical departments by maintaining a sterile environment and managing reprocessed equipment efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and assemble surgical instrument sets and trays accurately for upcoming procedures.
Decontaminate, sterilize, and inspect instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
Record and verify sterilization cycle data, biological test results, and loaner instrument logs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized Sterile Processing Department environment daily.
Assist with room turnover, terminal cleaning, and supply management in operating areas as needed.
Perform diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment and evaluate instrument safety and functionality.
Qualifications:
Hold a Sterile Processing Technician certification OR comparable formal training.
Possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent; technical degree preferred.
Have at least two years of recent experience in sterile processing or a related field.
Maintain current BLS certification.
Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization procedures, biological testing, and infection control standards.
