Job description
Clean Energy Services (CES) is an independent, execution-first operations and maintenance provider built to support utility-scale solar and battery energy storage assets. Dedicated field teams, a 24/7 Remote Operations Center and deep operating experience, put to work reducing operational risk, improving availability and protecting long-term asset value.
About the role
This position is embedded in the Boise, Idaho home office of a utility-scale renewable energy owner and operator. You work alongside their portfolio operations team every day and remain a full-time CES employee. The seat was created under a long-term partnership between CES and the owner, and it exists to close the distance between corporate decision making and what actually happens in the field.
The portfolio covers utility-scale PV and battery storage projects across multiple regions, with new assets entering operation on a rolling basis.
Position summary
The Technical Account Manager is the day-to-day link between the asset owner and the CES operations organization. You are the single point of contact for portfolio operational matters, the person who gets the right CES resource on the right issue, and the person who keeps both sides looking at the same picture.
You plug into four groups. Site technicians and site managers for what is happening at the plants. Regional HSE representatives for safety performance and incident follow-through. CES management for escalation, resourcing and commercial matters. The owner's portfolio operations team for reporting, planning and decision support.
This is a coordination and communication role, not a line management role. CES site personnel report through the CES operations structure.
Key responsibilities
Client interface
Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for the asset owner on portfolio operations.
Receive, triage and route material operational issues and plant events to the right CES resource, and keep the owner informed through resolution.
Act as first point of escalation for significant portfolio events, following CES and owner escalation paths.
Translate owner priorities into clear direction for CES operations, and field reality back into terms the owner can act on.
Field and site coordination
Work directly with CES site managers, technicians and the ROC on scheduled and unscheduled work.
Track preventive, corrective and outage activity and keep the owner current on status and completion.
Coordinate site access, outage windows and OEM or third-party attendance.
Support onboarding of new assets - pre-COD planning, commissioning coordination and handover to long-term operations.
HSE
Work with regional HSE representatives to reinforce safety, quality and compliance expectations across the portfolio.
Track incident reporting, corrective actions and close-out.
Support site-specific safety plan reviews and owner-required safety documentation.
Reporting
Own the reporting that sits between the parties.
Prepare and present availability, performance and work-status reporting on the agreed cadence.
Daily integrated operations calls, biweekly KPI and resource planning reviews, monthly availability and RCA reviews, quarterly OEM and contractor performance reviews.
Support annual vendor scorecards, improvement plans and KPI development.
Identify recurring issues, process gaps and improvement opportunities, and bring recommendations to CES operations leadership and the owner.
Coordinate with CES performance engineering on optimization work.
Share operating practices and lessons learned across the portfolio.
Advisory support, periodic
Operational review comments on design packages and Issued-for-Construction drawings, focused on operability, maintainability and safety.
Operational input on equipment selection where CES has relevant operating history.
Turnover readiness support - punch-list observations, spare parts readiness and completeness of operational documentation at transfer of care, custody and control.
What we are looking for
Five or more years in utility-scale solar or battery storage O&M, with time spent in the field and not only in an office.
Experience as a site lead, site manager or senior technician, or in a client-facing technical account or asset management role.
Working knowledge of PV and BESS plant equipment, SCADA and remote operations, and the realities of outage and PM scheduling.
Comfortable in a room with field technicians and with asset owner executives.
Strong written reporting. Much of this role is making complex operational information clear to people who were not on site.
Able to work independently inside a client organization while remaining a CES employee.
OSHA 30, NFPA 70E familiarity and first aid/CPR preferred. CES will support certification where needed.
What success looks like
The owner never learns about a material plant event from someone other than you.
Reporting goes out on time, is accurate and does not need to be chased.
Field teams see you as useful, not as overhead.
Issues that recur get identified and closed.
Location and travel
Based in the asset owner's Boise, Idaho office, in-office with remote support as needed. Approximately 20% travel to plants and to the CES corporate office.
