Technical AssistantFounded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training initiatives, distance learning and service to a diverse population of students. Hudson Valley has an extension center in Malta, NY known as HVCC North and sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in Troy, NY. With more than 80,000 alumni and nearly 1,000 employees, the college is a catalyst for educational opportunity and economic development in the Capital Region of New York State.Hudson Valley seeks experienced, dynamic, capable, creative and caring individuals who would like to join our team and continue to build on decades of successful service to our community.Applications are being accepted for a Technical Assistant on the Non-Teaching Professional staff for the Office of Business and Criminal Justice.To be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.Qualifications Required:Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with administrative experience; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an administrative capacityProficiency with Microsoft Office products and database applicationsStrong organizational, planning, and written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentPreferred:Work experience in a post-secondary, degree-granting institutionFamiliarity with academic administrative processes, scheduling systems, and curriculum management platformsDuties and/or Essential Responsibilities:The Technical Assistant, Academics reports to the Department Chair of Business and Criminal Justice and performs the following professional administrative duties in support of the academic mission of the College:Provide administrative support to the Department Chair and other academic administrators as assignedAssist the Department Chair with faculty scheduling and course and room assignments, including support for scheduling softwareAssist with curriculum development tasks, including data entry and updates in online curriculum management systemsMaintain departmental records, databases, and file structures relevant to the operation of the department and/or divisionGather and compile data for studies, annual reports, program reviews, and assessments of departmental programs and activitiesAssist with the entry and maintenance of data in academic assessment and planning systemsProvide logistical support for departmental initiatives, including scheduling, coordination, and planningRecord and distribute minutes for department meetings and other meetings as necessaryAssist with the faculty search process, including scheduling and coordinationPrepare and deliver communications to internal and external stakeholders, from correspondence to presentationsServe as a liaison with other areas of College administrationAssist with budget preparation and administrationAttend meetings and seminars relevant to academic operationsPerform other related duties as assigned by the Department ChairSalary This is a 12-month, 37.5 hour work week, Full-Time position with a salary range of $45,500-$47,500.Hudson Valley offers a full benefit package including Health Insurance, Dental and Eye Insurance, Retirement, employee and employee’s spouse and children free tuition waivers.
