Summary

We are seeking a Senior technician to serve as the Technical Lead for the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) equipment installation team in Southlake, TX Network Equipment Center (NEC). In this role, you will focus entirely on the physical network infrastructure, equipment deployments, and layout of the data center floor. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of cabinet installations, cabling infrastructure, and equipment break-fixes while managing technical vendor teams to ensure zero network impact.

This position strictly focuses on data center asset infrastructure, cabling, and cabinet-level capacity; it does not encompass facility plant operations (such as building chillers, plumbing, or primary electrical switchgear).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Vendor Management: Act as the technical lead for the deployment and installation teams. Coordinate and track installation contractors to ensure all work meets strict corporate standards, stays on schedule, and causes zero network impact.

Capacity & Cabinet Infrastructure Management: Manage floor space allocations, cabinet layouts, and available power, space, and cooling at the equipment space level. Implement data center airflow optimization strategies to maintain the target environment for hardware.

Cabling & Fiber Transmission Distribution: Coordinate the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of layer-1 network devices, fiber distribution systems, cross-connects, and transmission facilities (including Dark Fiber, EBH, 100G, and 10G).

Hardware Support & Break-Fix Operations: Provide physical maintenance and break-fix support for data center hardware, including cabinets, rack power distribution units (PDUs/RPPs), multi-vendor transport systems, and network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, F5, A10, etc).

Change & Process Management: Draft, review, and execute detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and change controls to influence physical infrastructure upgrades and center migrations.

Incident Response & Operations: Participate in an on-call rotation and late-night/early-morning maintenance windows to troubleshoot physical infrastructure issues and restore services to down equipment.

Inventory & Asset Tracking: Maintain an accurate inventory of all data center infrastructure, equipment, spares, and electrical panel schedules using localized tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or equivalent technical work experience.

Three or more years of relevant data center infrastructure experience.

Willingness to support flexible hours, on-call duties, and late-night shift work during designated maintenance windows.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative, but not exclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear

Understanding of fiber optic installation techniques.

Ability to interface with and take direction from onsite customer representatives

Even Better If You Have
