Position Summary: Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, this position supports the Aerospace, Defense, and Energy East region with some regional and divisional cross-over support. The Technical Sales Engineer position oversees and coordinates new program introduction (NPI) launches and customer technical support with special emphasis on additive manufacturing, vacuum brazing, and boronizing. The technical sales engineer will build pipeline opportunities while closing existing ones, driving and accelerating the growth engine of our business in North America. This person will employ a hands-on, problem-solving, technical approach to application development.

The ideal candidate will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of new product launches, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and the timeline. This role acts as the central point of coordination between cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers. The position may require technical presentations, an understanding of additive manufacturing methods and techniques, as well as the material science of powders and printed structures.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.

Develop in-depth understanding of heat treat, braze, & HIP technology features and benefits, applying them in target industries at the OEM and tiered supplier level.

Maintain regular follow-up with customers on projects, driving their specification of the process and ultimately the commercialization of customer programs.

Grow the project pipeline and develop business with a hands-on approach, through customer presentations, processing trials, and regular contact with technical and other staff at the customer.

Oversee new product launch from commercial estimating, sales, scheduling, risk, and quality using industry-standard management methodologies.

Establish regular meetings with various stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, to ensure the project stays on track.

Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates, managing expectations, and addressing concerns.

Lead program reviews and report performance metrics to stakeholders and executive leadership.

Collaborates with the sales organization in a technical selling capacity to win new business and supports trade show events as needed.

Travel to customer and supplier locations for update meetings, run-offs of equipment, etc.

May have access to proprietary and third-party information necessary to the business, and as such will perform duties in an ethical and professional manner.

This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.

This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident cardholders.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent.

Experience Necessary: Minimum 5 years in additive engineering, materials engineering management, with program management or NPI experience.

Some sales experience preferred.

Experience with metallography, metallurgical laboratory equipment, and metallurgical evaluation preferred.

Reading blueprint specifications and writing metallurgical reports are required.

Must have good knowledge of computer applications, basic math, and accurate typing skills. Computer programs required include: Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.

Must be able to multitask, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate in English orally and in writing. Spanish or other languages a plus.

Must be able to deal professionally and pleasantly over the phone and in person with all stakeholders – getting along with people while remaining assertive is important.

Position requires flexibility with work schedule. Weekend work may be required for certain projects.

Travel required is generally 40-50% or more if needed.

Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, and interact professionally with co-workers.

Must be able to maintain a professional disposition in front of customers and other stakeholders while under pressure or in intense meetings.

Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to, the following.

Must be able to work in a sitting/standing position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.

Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.

Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.

Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.

May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.

Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.

Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.

Ability to hear in person and via phone.
