Job Description - Technical Support Specialist II (Network & Application Support)
Job Title: Technical Support Specialist II
Location: Allen, TX 75002 - 100% Onsite
Pay Rate: $25/hr on W2
Contract Duration: 6 Months (Possible to Extension)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Support Specialist II with strong hands-on expertise in Network Troubleshooting, Linux, Windows OS, and Application Support. The candidate will provide technical assistance for Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems, supporting law enforcement and public safety customers.
Important: This is NOT a Desktop Support role. Strong networking and technical troubleshooting experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide Level 2 technical support for networking, applications, hardware, and software.
* Troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers, switches, VLANs, VPNs, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
* Diagnose and resolve technical issues involving Linux, Windows OS, and Windows Server .
* Troubleshoot application connectivity, internal websites, servers, and network performance issues.
* Handle approximately 30-40 inbound/outbound technical support calls daily .
* Manage support tickets, document resolutions, and escalate complex issues to Engineering teams.
* Provide remote technical troubleshooting assistance to law enforcement customers.
Required Technical Skills
* Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routers, Switches, VLANs, VPNs, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi.
* Linux: Strong command-line troubleshooting (Ubuntu/CentOS preferred).
* Windows: Windows OS and Windows Server troubleshooting.
* Technical Support: 2-3+ years in Network Support, Application Support, or Technical Support.
* Troubleshooting Tools: Ping, Traceroute, IP Configuration, Network Diagnostics.
* Additional Skills: HTTPS, SSL/TLS, Hardware/Software Troubleshooting.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
* CCNA, CompTIA A+/Network+, MCSE, MCP, or Linux Certifications.
* Azure Cloud, VMware, Hyper-V, PowerShell, and ITIL knowledge.
