Job description
Job TitleOperates and maintains packaging machines and related equipment. Palletizes, stores, inventories, and loads product for shipment in a manner to guarantee quality and safe product to the customer. Unloads incoming materials.Schedule:7 am to 7 pm Dayshift onlyWork: Monday Tuesday; Off: Wednesday Thursday; Work: Friday Saturday and SundayOff: Monday Tuesday; Work: Wednesday Thursday; Off: Friday, Saturday and SundayRepeatQualificationsEducation, certifications, and experience:· High School diploma or equivalent· No experience required, however work experience in warehousing/packaging, food grade processing, or agricultural processing is preferred· Forklift certification is required but may be obtained after hireKnowledge, skills, and abilities:Must be self-motivated and show a willingness to learnComputer knowledge (Microsoft Office, EMaint., SAP, Velocity, etc.)Ability to multi-taskAbility to professionally interact and communicate with othersGood written and verbal communication skillsStrong teamwork and collaboration skillsMechanical aptitude and/or a willingness to learn how to troubleshoot mechanical issuesUse of required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing environmentWorking around large manufacturing machines and equipmentOther general equipment used at an industrial site (i.e. hoist, pallet jack, freight elevator, etc.)Ability to use lab analytical and measurement instrumentationWorking Conditions / Physical RequirementsWorking conditions: Fast paced manufacturing environment working in a plant setting. May perform activities in an environment containing hazardous elements and requiring safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines. Work must be performed in a safe manner for personal protection and for the protection of other team members. All safety procedures, procedures described in SOPs, JHAs, and support of the ISO standards in all functional areas must be followed, enforced, and strictly complied with.Physical requirements:• Sitting, standing, walking, repetitive use of hands/arms/legs, and eye/hand coordination for 8+ hours a day• Frequent bending, reaching overhead, crouching, climbing ladders, balancing, pushing or pulling• Occasional lifting of 75 lbs. or less• Frequent lifting of 55 lbs. or less• Ability to operate general manufacturing powered equipment and tools• Ability to wear respirators according to respiratory protection programResponsibilitiesSafety, Environmental, & Quality ComplianceUtilize safe work habits and follow all policies and proceduresMake sound decisions while not compromising safety, environmental or quality standardsTurn in any hazards as they are identified to get them corrected as soon as possibleAttend regularly scheduled training sessions to stay current on all compliance initiativesAssist in the preparation of Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Maintain all ISO Standards in all areas of work within the departmentMaintain Occupational Health and Safety Management SystemPackaging, Warehouse and Record-Keeping DutiesMonitor and control packaging process within established parametersPerform and control product sampling and deliver to Quality AssurancePerform preventive maintenance, cleaning of process equipment, and housekeepingLearn and operates forklift, "C" zone duties, operate bag line, container bag, and fiber drumline in the "A" zoneLearn how to monitor and manage hopper levelsHave open communication with fellow workers, supervisor, and outside departmentsLearn GMP measures and practicesLearn and practice First in First out (FIFO)Understand when to adjust VFDs on the feed conveyorsFollow instructions as given with an ability to troubleshoot as needed.
