Crew Groundman Job DescriptionCherokee Fiber & Associates is a proud division of Hyper Networks LLC. To learn more about Cherokee Fiber & Associates please visit our website.The OSP Crew Groundman is an entry level position on our fiber network construction crew. This position will work on a directional boring/open trench crew, installing conduit, pulling conductor, pulling fiber, digging with shovels, repairing wire and operating other heavy equipment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform manual labor using hand tools, primarily shovelsPerform safe and productive execution of workUse vacuum excavation equipment and perform maintenanceCalling in utility locatesMaintain and service equipment as necessaryResponsible for all restorationPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to pass pre-employment screenings required (motor vehicle, drug, and background)Experience with fiber installs preferredMust work safely and follow all OSHA, and other Federal, State, and local safety regulations and company safety rules and proceduresAbility to read design maps is beneficialCan work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to climb ladders and work in confined spaces (e. g., crawl spaces, utility holes)Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 70 poundsAbility to pass a background checkAbility to communicate effectivelyEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalentValid Class Driver License or State Issued ID required1 year of relevant experience preferred, or an equivalent of education and experienceRestoration experience in asphalt and concrete preferredExperience operating vibratory plows beneficialExperience operating mini-excavators beneficialWorking ConditionsMay be required to work long and unpredictable hours including weekendsWorking outdoors in all types of weather conditionsBend/squat/kneel/stand frequentlyExposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levelsCherokee Fiber & Associates is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
