GENERAL SUMMARY A Phlebotomist at MyMichigan Health - Alpena ensures a patient is comfortable while collecting a quality specimen that provides accurate results to assist the provider in the patient's diagnosis and treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (10%)* Greets the public in a professional, cheerful manner. (15%)* Answers telephone and directs inquires to appropriate persons. (20%)* Draws blood properly with minimum discomfort and rarely misses a vein on a patient. (15%)* Positively identifies and labels specimens by following patient and specimen identification policies. Uses the computer to register and accession specimens. (15%)* Knows various needles, anticoagulants, special handling, and preparation of tests that are performed. (5%)* Assists with inventory and putting away supplies. (5%)* Assists with specimen processing. (15%)* Performs other related miscellaneous duties
