Job description
Job Title: Assistant Professor of Physics (Tenure Track)
Department: Chemistry and Physics
Location: LSU – Alexandria
Position Type: Full-time, 9‑month academic year
Start Date: August 2026
Responsibilities
Develop and teach lecture and laboratory courses in physics and physical science, both in-person and online.
Maintain high standards of instruction and employ innovative teaching methods to support student success.
Mentor undergraduate students in research projects.
Hold office hours and be responsive to student inquiries both in person and electronically.
Actively serve on university committees and participate in institutional meetings.
Contribute to curriculum development and review processes to ensure alignment with academic goals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Teaching workload: 60% teaching, 20% scholarly activities, 20% service.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field.
Teaching experience in college physics.
Strong commitment to undergraduate education.
