Job description

Test TechnicianLightForce is leading the digital transformation of orthodontics and redefining the standard of care for patients. Our fully digital, 3D-printed orthodontic platform increases practice efficiency, improves clinical consistency, and enables more predictable treatment outcomes.Unlike traditional stock brackets, LightForce delivers fully customized, patient-specific brackets paired with AI-driven treatment planning—optimizing outcomes at scale. With recent advancements unlocking the next phase of digital orthodontics, LightForce continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in personalized care.As a Test Technician at LightForce, you will be an active member of a fast-growing start-up at the forefront of additive manufacturing. You will be responsible for conducting hands-on testing to validate quality and improve our orthodontic appliance production line. You will work closely with process engineers, hardware engineers, manufacturing team members and quality assurance. Your contributions will directly support product and process development, qualification, and production activities to maintain and improve our novel manufacturing system. This is an excellent position for individuals with QA and/or lab testing experience looking to grow alongside a new manufacturing process. This position reports to the Process Engineering Manager.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, and maintain lab testing and measurement equipment, e.g. tensile testers, hardness testers, microscopes, etc.Perform testing and measurements to collect data supporting development, qualification, and production needsFollow work instructions, test protocols and quality procedures; contribute to improvement of documentationTrain manufacturing technicians on measurement and inspection proceduresMaintain flexibility to work on ad-hoc projects with engineers and other techniciansMaintain a clean and organized work area, and assure proper disposal of waste materialsComply with all Company policies including safety, operating procedures, quality, attendance, and proper on-the-job conductSet up, operate, and monitor manufacturing equipment for test sample production, e.g. 3D printers (prototyping as well as industrial scale), furnaces, solvent cleaning equipment, and custom machineryEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent2+ years of professional-level career experience in manufacturing QA, lab testing, and/or test equipment operation, or actively pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering or a related fieldRequired QualificationsYou need these qualifications to be successful starting in this position.Excellent hands-on technical skills, ability to apply advanced troubleshooting skillsAdvanced computer knowledge, such as using Google Workplace and spreadsheetsAcute attention to detail and organizational skillsCritical understanding of the importance of documentation and data traceabilityFamiliarity with executing Standard Operating Procedures in a manufacturing or assembly environmentAbility to work well independently and in a team environmentAbility to work safely and conscientiously in a manufacturing environmentExcellent written and oral communication skillsPreferred QualificationsWe'd like to see these, but don't let them persuade you to not apply.Experience with 3D printing, mechanical testing, and microscopyExperience with CAD and design of text fixtures and jigsExperience with additive manufacturing in an industrial settingExperience with test method validation and calibration proceduresPhysical DemandsAbility to lift up to 20 poundsAbility to reach and manipulate controls on equipmentPerform work activities with production chemicals, adhesives and epoxies, using required personal protective equipmentAbility to view and reliably identify small (< 1 mm), low-contrast features on parts/componentsRequires physical activity such as standing for long periods of time, walking, and working with handsWork EnvironmentOffice environment up to 100%Work is generally performed in an open officeLimited temperature fluctuations, heated and air-conditioned environmentWork is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally with sensitive chemicalsThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loudPerks (For US full-time employees)3 weeks accrued vacation13 paid holidays per yearGenerous premium coverage for medical, dental, and vision plansGroup plan voluntary life insurancePre-tax commuter benefits programPaid parental leaveFringe benefitsWorkplace perks such as food/coffee and flexible work schedulesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
