Position Title: Therapist (Internship)
Reports to: Licensed Professional
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional, the Therapy Intern provides individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy services to clients in a community based setting.
Essential Responsibilities:
Performing mental health assessments of referred clients: interviewing clients and significant individuals and collateral contacts.
Assessing clients' needs and developing appropriate goals for services.
Providing individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy.
Participating in supervision, team meetings and in-service training sessions.
Collaboration with other social service agencies, schools, hospitals, courts, probation, corrections and public mental health organizations to make referrals or obtain case-related information.
Collaboration with caseworkers assigned to client or client's family to discuss progress of client and obtain case related information.
Maintaining supportive documentation of case file, including written reports, case notes and other paperwork related to the case within established timeframes.
Learning new knowledge through participation in agency sponsored training and supervision.
Possibility of providing in-home counseling services.
Education/Job Experience/Certifications: Enrollment in a 2nd year Master program.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Bi-lingual, English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting.
Demonstrates sensitivity to special populations and ability to interface with the community.
Culturally competent, experience with LGBTQ population.
