Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist performs comprehensive cardio-pulmonary evaluations, respiratory care, and life support procedures following established protocols or physician prescriptions. This role involves working with patients of all ages in various hospital settings to ensure optimal respiratory health and education.
Responsibilities:
Administer respiratory treatments, including advanced life support, to patients based on physician orders.
Evaluate and monitor cardiopulmonary status of patients through diagnostic assessments.
Collaborate with healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and preventive measures.
Maintain accurate documentation of clinical assessments, interventions, and patient progress.
Ensure compliance with licensing, certification, and hospital policies, including required credentials and certifications.
Qualifications: Hold current NYS License as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
Possess NBRC RRT credential and associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
Demonstrate proficiency in critical care and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
Maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
Have at least one year of relevant work experience, including labor and delivery/neonatal resuscitation.
Provide a supervisory reference within the past two years.
