nPosition Summary
nSupports the fleet maintenance operations by installing and inspecting tires and rims on tractor-trailers.
nMajor Tasks and Responsibilities
nnnRemoves and installs tire and rim assemblies from class 6, 7, and 8 trucks, trailers, and converter dollies.
n
nnUses hydraulic jacks and stands to gain access to the unit and replace tire assemblies.
n
nnOperates, lifts, moves, and stores specialized equipment to maintain, inspect, and repair tires or rims.
n
nnRepairs tires outside the maintenance facility utilizing a service truck.
n
nnInspects tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
n
nnDisposes of old tires in compliance with environmental regulations.
n
nnMounts and dismounts tires or rims using specialized tire machines.
n
n nMinimum Qualifications
nnnMust be at least 18 years of age.
n
nnHigh school diploma or GED.
n
nnAuthorized to work in the United States.
n
nnMust provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
n
nnRead, write, communicate and comprehend the English language in order to perform the various tasks of the job, including but not limited to: converse with co-workers and members of the general public; understand oral and written instructions as well as governmental regulations; respond to questions and inquiries from management and government representatives; and accurately review and complete various documents, reports and records required of the position.
n
n nPreferred Qualifications
nnn2 years of tire mechanic experience.
n
nnProficiency in diagnostic software.
n
n nWork Conditions and Physical Demands

nnnAbility to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.

nnFrequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of tools, parts, and equipment up to 100 pounds.

nnRegular use of hands and arms for handling tools, reaching overhead, and working in tight spaces.
n
nnAbility to climb on, under, and around large trucks and equipment safely.
n
nnAdequate vision (with or without correction) to read gauges, manuals, and perform detailed inspections.
n
nnAdequate hearing (with or without aids) to detect equipment sounds, communicate, and follow safety signals.
n
n nPay Rate: $28.45 - $32.70 per hour, based on experience
