Tool and Die Maker builds, repairs, and maintains: dies, fixtures, and all other tooling in conformance to customer and/or company specifications per control plans. Tool and Die Makers must be able to read tool & die designs, prints and know basic show math and trigonometry.Position Summary:Responsible for the development, maintenance and/or repair of stamping dies (both progressive & secondary dies) in accordance with Engineering supplied blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.Supports production department with tooling needs; respond to shop-floor calls in a timely mannerAssures safe operation and care of tool room equipmentProduces quality work in a timely mannerAssesses complex tooling and equipment needs and refurbish as requiredTroubleshoots and solves tooling problems without assistanceSet-up and operates all tool room equipment.Works to continuously improve tooling and reduce scrap.Housekeeping and other activities as assignedAbility to lead continuous improvement and emergency repair projects individually or within a team.Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institutionJourneyman Tool & Die Maker and/ or completion of an apprenticeship (4 years) or advanced manufacturing certificate, followed by at least 4 years of on the job training5 years' experience in the trade; emphasis on small precision stampings from progressive diesKnowledge/ experience with of AutoCAD, Solid-works, and EDM (a Plus)Ability to use precise measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, dial indicators, etc.Ability to operate all standard tool room equipment such as milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, lathes, etc. CNC machine set up a plus.Check-Mate Manufacturing LLC is an equal opportunity employer and affords equal opportunity to all applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status or any other status protected under local, state or federal laws.
