Job description
Tool BuilderThis position will focus on building, assembling, fitting, and modifying tooling and automation components from mechanical prints and engineering drawings. Candidates should have hands-on experience working in a machine build, tooling, fixture, or automation environment.ResponsibilitiesBuild tooling, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies from prints and drawingsRead and interpret mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and engineering printsFit, assemble, align, and adjust tooling componentsPerform drilling, tapping, grinding, filing, and other manual fitting operationsUse precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerancesInstall and assemble components such as locating pins, clamps, brackets, stops, and tooling detailsTroubleshoot fitment and mechanical issues during the build processMake modifications and adjustments to tooling as requiredWork closely with machine builders, engineers, and other skilled tradesEnsure tooling is assembled accurately and meets customer specificationsQualificationsPrevious Tool Maker, Machine Builder, Die Maker, or Automation Tooling experienceStrong ability to build from printsAbility to read mechanical blueprints and engineering drawingsExperience with precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gaugesExperience with hand and power tools used in machine/tooling assemblyStrong mechanical aptitude and attention to detailAbility to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical problemsPreferred ExperienceAutomotive automation or industrial automationRobotic assembly systemsWeld fixtures and toolingBody-in-white toolingAssembly fixturesSpecial machines or custom automation equipmentSchedule: Day Shift Location: Auburn Hills, MICandidates with strong tooling, fixture build, machine build, or automation assembly experience are encouraged to apply.
