Job description
Tool Crib CoordinatorThe Tool Crib Coordinator manages and maintains tooling inventory to support production operations in a high-volume machine shop environment. This role oversees the issuance, tracking, replenishment, and organization of cutting tools, consumables, gauges, and related equipment. The Tool Crib Coordinator collaborates closely with machinists, supervisors, and purchasing teams to ensure tooling availability, inventory accuracy, and minimal production downtime while maintaining a safe and well-organized tool crib.ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain tooling inventory to support high-volume production operations in a machine shop environment.Oversee the issuance, return, and tracking of cutting tools, consumables, gauges, and related equipment.Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely replenishment of tooling and consumables to prevent production delays.Organize and label tools, gauges, and supplies to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient tool crib layout.Work closely with machinists to understand tooling needs and respond promptly to requests for tools and equipment.Collaborate with supervisors and purchasing teams to align tooling inventory with production schedules and priorities.Use inventory control systems, ERP or EMS tools, and Microsoft Office applications to track usage and maintain accurate records.Assist with material management activities related to tooling and consumables in a production or manufacturing environment.Identify discrepancies in inventory and help resolve issues to maintain accuracy and minimize downtime.Support continuous improvement efforts in tool crib processes, organization, and inventory management.Essential SkillsDemonstrated experience in inventory control in a production or manufacturing environment.Experience with material management, including handling and tracking tools, consumables, and related equipment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and inventory tracking.Ability to work effectively in a machine shop environment and support high-volume production operations.Strong organizational skills to maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient tool crib.Ability to collaborate with machinists, supervisors, and purchasing teams to meet tooling needs.Attention to detail and accuracy in tracking, recording, and reconciling inventory data.Additional Skills & QualificationsAA degree in a related discipline and typically 1 or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Previous tool crib experience in a machine shop environment is ideal.Experience with tooling management, including cutting tools, gauges, and consumables.Familiarity with ERP or EMS systems for inventory and materials management.Experience in inventory management or material handling in a production or manufacturing setting.Why Work Here?Join a large, established organization within the aerospace industry that offers the opportunity to contribute directly to high-volume production in a technically engaging environment. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
