Tool & Die MachinistLocation: Ankeny, IA (climate-controlled facility) Pay: $25-$30/hr, with unlimited overtime available Status: Full-time, non-exemptShifts Available2nd shift: 2:00 PM-10:30 PM3rd shift: 10:00 PM-6:30 AMWeekend days: 12-hour shifts, Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon, starting between 5-7 AMWeekend nights: 12-hour shifts, Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon, starting between 5-7 PMWeekday start and end times are flexible. A comprehensive benefits package is included.About the RoleJoin a growing toolroom team that builds some of the most precise injection molds in the world. The tooling supports medical, electronics, optical, and other advanced technologies, with components measured in microns. You'll work with engineers, designers, and fellow toolmakers on new challenges and gain hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing processes. The company is adding shifts and hiring as many machinists as it can.What You'll DoBuild, modify, and maintain high-precision molds and toolingMachine complex mold components on a variety of toolroom equipmentRead and interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM files, and technical documentationInspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot existing molds using precision measurement equipmentWork with engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to keep projects movingIdentify ways to improve tooling performance, quality, and efficiencyLead project tasks when assignedPerform other duties as requiredWhat You BringEducation & ExperienceHigh school coursework or GED requiredTwo-year tool & die degree or four years of tooling or moldmaking experience preferredExperience with metal saws, mills, grinders, and lathesSkillsWorking knowledge of Windows-based CAD software such as Mastercam, AutoCAD, and SolidWorksStrong math skills, including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and trigonometryAbility to read complex drawings and follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructionsSound troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsClear communication in one-on-one and small group settingsWillingness to attend training and occasional business travelOvertime as needed to meet toolroom demandsPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentStand for long periods and handle very small parts or tweezersGood color and close vision, with the ability to use a microscopeLift or move up to 55 lbsClimate-controlled environment with low to moderate noisePossible contact with steel chips, grinding dust, EDM smoke, cutting oils, and coolantsSafety glasses requiredWhy This RoleWork on precision tooling that few shops can buildKeep growing through ongoing training and advanced manufacturing technologyChoose a shift that fits your life, with overtime available whenever you want it
