Job Description Job Description Tool and Die Maker Position
We are a premier cold heading and fastener manufacturing company looking for an experienced, high-precision Tool and Die Maker .
In this role, you will manufacture, modify, repair, and maintain precision carbide and steel tooling, dies, and multi-die sequences used in our cold forming department. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams and Cold Header Operators to maximize production uptime, optimize tooling life, and ensure flawless quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Fabricate & Repair: Manufacture and refurbish high-precision carbide inserts, steel dies, punches, cut-off knives, and feed rolls according to blueprint specifications.
Machine Operation: Set up and operate manual toolroom equipment including surface grinders, lathes, milling machines, and honing machine.
Precision Finishing: Perform meticulous lapping, grinding, fitting, and polishing of carbide and steel components to achieve precise tolerances (down to .0002") and proper surface finishes.
Blueprint Reading & Math: Interpret complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and calculate dimensions/die assembly sequences.
Troubleshooting: Partner with production operators on the floor to diagnose tool breakage, premature wear, or part defects, and recommend corrective tool design enhancements.
Quality Inspection: Verify precise physical dimensions using micrometers, dial indicators, vernier calipers, and optical comparators.
