Job description
Tool MakerExtensive knowledge of various types of machine/hand tools.Ability to support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, using knowledge of machine functions and mathematics.Ability to fabricate fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.Uses precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to check parts to assure conformance to specification.Set up/operate metalworking, welding, & cutting equipment.Select the appropriate tools, materials, and machines to be used in preparation of machinery work.Experience in hand crank lathes, drill presses, and mill experience.Work with engineering personnel to suggest re-design of parts or to clarify actual working requirements.Fiberglass fabrication experience a plus.Cabinetmaker/Construction type work experience a plus.Good judgment skills with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with people on all levels and from various backgrounds.Other projects as duties as assigned.Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment following the law.
