Job description

Toolmaker 3 – Non-ExemptHanwha Aerospace USA has long been recognized as a leader in the development and supply of flight critical Aerospace/Defense components and assemblies. We are always seeking to hire talented, hard-working, and committed individuals for roles in Operations (CNC Machining, Tool Making, and Fabrication/Assembly), Engineering, Quality and other Support Roles.We are looking for a toolmaker who has experience in analyzing specifications, lay out material stock, set up and operates machine tools, knowledge of fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair jigs and fixtures, gauges, composite molds, specialty machines and specialty tools, applying knowledge of tool shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining, and assembly procedures.Location: Cheshire, CTReports to: Production SupervisorEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform.Studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.Computes dimensions, plans layout and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.Sets up and operates machine tools, such as lathes, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.Lifts machined parts manually or using hoist, and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable, using devices, such as vises, V-blocks, and angle plates.Smooths flat and contoured surfaces, using files, abrasive stones, and power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms, using hand tools.Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers. Works to.0001" tolerances.Documents the in-process inspection procedures in accordance with Quality Assurance Procedure 4.10-2.Inspects and measures parts to document quality requirements directly to the customer.May connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic componentsMay examine standard or previously used tools, jigs and fixtures and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of the part.May develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draw or sketch design or product.Make components for tools, fixtures, and jigs from a blueprint. Able to choose cutting tools, work holding and masoning toolsPerforms other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.Participate in training as required5-10% Domestic Travel requiredJob Qualification RequirementsMust be a "U.S. Person" as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.High School Diploma or GED required5+ years experience in tool making3+ years of trade school or vocational educationAbility to read machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instrumentsMust be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional levelPhysical Demands / Work Capacity EvaluationThe essential functions of this position may vary based on specific assignments, work locations, and operational needs.
