Track ForemanTrack Foreman with Cando are responsible for the daily supervision of the employees on site, assisting the supervisor in keeping the project on plan and budget, managing the site purchasing and payroll, and liaising with the customer and/or other contractors. With over 50 operations, we are the 3 largest locomotive fleet in Canada and growing!Cando AdvantagesWork Life Balance with Fixed SchedulesCando's Technical and Leadership Training ProgramsAward Winning Safety CultureEmployee Ownership ProgramGroup Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and Long-Term Disability InsurancesFlexible Health & Dental BenefitsCanada's Best Managed Company for 8 years!Job DescriptionTrack Foreman with Cando are responsible for the daily supervision of the employees on site, assisting the supervisor in keeping the project on plan and budget, managing the site purchasing and payroll, and liaising with the customer and/or other contractors.Roles & ResponsibilitiesGuide the day to day operations of the job site ensuring the necessary people, equipment, and other resources are available to effectively provide our service; work alongside employees operating equipment as requiredWork with Supervisors and Project Managers on a daily basis identifying potential hurdles, targeting inconsistencies and providing solutions for effective operation; provide continuous status reportsLead all daily job briefings, conduct and document hazard analysis, and act as the champion of all safety initiativesLiaise with suppliers, contractors, and customersEnsure the production of the job site is aligned with the project plans and carry out the plans as directed by the supervisor or department managerBuild and maintain positive and healthy relationships and teams within the divisionPromote and guide others to understand delivery of effective services and achievement of objectives of daily work tasksEducate others, provide employee training, and help with the implementation of policies and practices in the divisionManage purchasing and reporting for the specific jobs including productivity reports; complete timesheets and WCB formsEnsure quality of work/workmanship meets or exceeds industry standardsEnsure the general maintenance on equipment is maintained and daily log books are accurately completedPerform laboring tasks involved in the construction and maintenance of railways tracksSkills, Knowledge, & AbilitiesDemonstrate initiative to independently plan, organize, and prioritize workload; meet project plans in a constantly changing environmentDemonstrate leadership including establishing focus, providing motivational support, fostering teamwork, and empowering othersPossess a working understanding of legislation, regulations, and best practices relevant to area of expertiseAbility to establish rapport with people and influence opinions, attitudes, or judgementsSkilled in the use of computer equipment and operating systems including word processing, and spreadsheet and database softwareEducation & ExperienceGeneral knowledge of track construction and maintenance principles and operational and production capabilities of various equipmentGood oral and written communication skillsBasic mathematics skills and familiarity with reading blueprints and schematicsNote: This description is not intended to limit the assignment of work or be construed as a complete list of the many duties to be performed by the incumbent.
