Road And Bridge Trades WorkerSarasota County Government is looking for a semi-skilled Road and Bridge trades worker. If you are a reliable, handworker who would like to work on our community sidewalks, roads, bridges, fixing potholes, etc., and have an opportunity to have a career within a Department that focuses on succession planning and advancement, this could be the job for you.The job involves semi-skilled work in the maintenance, construction and repair of county rights-of-way, stormwater conveyance and facilities. The duties include:Performing maintenance and repairs to all bridges within Sarasota County.Assisting in the repair and installation of concrete sidewalks, curb & gutter, driveways and handicap ramps.Maintaining and repairing all asphalt surfaces along county-maintained roadways.Conducting labor tasks to keep roadways and rights-of-way clear of obstructions.Frequently operating dump trucks and occasionally operating backhoes, small excavators, skid loaders, front end loaders and other related equipment.Maintaining equipment and vehicles as assigned.Completing and submitting work orders relating to all work performed in a professional and timely fashion.Responding to emergency situations as required.Work Hours: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday - FridayMinimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and one year of experience in the applicable trade (semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of concrete, asphalt and vegetation along Road Right-Of-Ways). Possession of a valid Driver's License at time of hire and obtain a Class "B" CDL with Tanker endorsement within (6) months from date of hire.Job Competencies: Knowledge of current technology in road rights-of-way maintenance practices, knowledge of safe operation of specialized tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of road rights-of-way, operation of front-end loader, dump truck, personal computers and mechanical tools used in the road maintenance industry, the ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions, and must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.Pay: $15.35 (Step 1)This Posting is currently Open Until Filled
