Job description

A highly respected investment management organization with an exceptional long-term reputation is looking to add a Senior Trading Systems Engineer to its investment technology team. This is not the kind of environment where people leave every couple of years. The team is extremely stable, collaborative, and technically strong. The company manages close to $1 trillion in assets and supports trading operations at an enormous scale, yet still maintains the feel of a highly professional mid-sized organization where your work is visible and impactful.

The culture is terrific. They promote education. They do a great job of making everyone feel like they are a part of the team and, as a result, everyone is willing to help the company progress!

Excellent pay and benefits, very stable, mostly dedicated coworkers

Good, friendly people. Lots of integrity and the focus is on doing the best job for the Company's clients.

Title: Trading Systems Engineer

Location: Hartford, CT - Hybrid

Salary: $145,000 – $175,000 +Bonus

Experience with any trading platform will be considered if you have experience working with APIs.

The leaders of this team will train the right candidate on Charles River Trading and Compliance platform!

The senior engineer currently leading this area plans to retire in the next couple of years, creating a rare opportunity for someone to come in, work side-by-side with an experienced expert, absorb deep institutional and platform knowledge, and ultimately become a key long-term leader for the trading systems environment.

This role will play a major part in the firm’s modernization initiative, including:

Migrating the Charles River platform from on-prem to SaaS/Azure

Reengineering legacy integrations into modern API-driven services

Building applications and workflows that integrate market and trading data into the platform

Supporting mission-critical trading and compliance workflows used across a massive institutional investment operation

You’ll work closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Compliance teams, and Technology leadership in a highly visible role where your contributions will directly impact trading operations and platform evolution.

The environment:

Extremely stable organization with very low turnover

Hybrid schedule — 3 days onsite

Collaborative 5-person team

Strong mentorship from senior technical leadership

Long-term career growth and stability

Complex, enterprise-level investment technology environment without the politics of a massive corporation

The ideal background:

Experience supporting the Charles River Investment Management Solution platform would be ideal, but will consider experience with any trading platform combined with experience with API-driven services

Understanding of investment trading workflows, compliance, and portfolio operations

Experience with any Trading platform SaaS migrations, upgrades, APIs, or integrations is highly desired

Development experience with C# or Python

Strong understanding of SQL and enterprise integrations

Experience supporting institutional trading platforms in regulated financial environments

Candidates with experience supporting comparable institutional platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, Aladdin, or SimCorp will also be considered.

This is the type of role experienced trading systems engineers rarely leave once they get into it — high-impact work, excellent leadership, meaningful modernization projects, and the chance to become a key technical expert inside an organization known for long-term stability and smart investment operations.
